Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma – blood plasma containing a high concentration of platelets (also known as thrombocytes)

PRP therapy helps to accelerate and promote the body’s natural healing and rejuvenation process without subjecting patients to significant risk.

The philosophy is to merge cutting edge technology with the body’s natural ability to heal. PRP technology was initially developed 20 years ago to aid with wound healing and blood loss. Now it is being used successfully across a wide range of applications such as skin rejuvenation, hair loss treatment, sports injuries, wound care and gynaecology.

At Cosmetic Solutions, we utilise the incredible power of PRP for Aesthetic treatments such as Facial Rejuvenation. Natural ageing of the skin means that skin texture and appearance deteriorate over time. An exciting new approach appealing to people seeking a more natural method to facial rejuvenation, is regeneration with your own cells, more specifically autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP). RegenLab PRP is being used successfully with thousands of patients across the globe to rejuvenate and slow down the ageing process.

PRP can be used to treat:

  • Tired and dry skin, laxity of skin, uneven pigmentation

  • Signs of skin ageing

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Overall texture and tone improvement

  • Certain types of alopecia or general hair thinning

  • People who may experience risk of allergic reactions from other treatments

  • People looking for a natural treatment using the body’s own healing process

Blood is collected from you in 1-2 specially designed tubes which are then centrifuged for 5-10 minutes. During centrifugation, a patented gel within the tubes isolates PRP from other unrequired cells within the blood. RegenLab PRP is then ready for application by injection back into the skin.

Following the procedure, patients can resume normal activity almost immediately.

The number of treatments required may vary depending on your skin condition, lifestyle and your expectations. 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart is normal. Once you and are happy with the results you can simply maintain the look with top-up treatments maybe every 12-24 months. However, results, number of treatments and suitability for treatment with PRP vary from client to client, so it’s important to discuss your concerns and expectations with Dianna and Kirsty at your consultation.

How it works

Using natural substances to rejuvenate damaged skin.

Our highly trained registered nurses and doctors begin the PRP treatment by taking the client’s blood and placing it in a specialised centrifuge device. From here, we extract the most nutrient rich properties (the platelets and plasma), then use superficial injections to place these natural substances back into the skin or area of concern. These platelets release important growth factors, which instruct other cells on what work needs to be done (e.g. form new collagen) and help to treat a wide range of concerns.

Optimising your results

Let’s work together to see the changes you deserve.

Depending on the size of the area, along with the desired results, we recommend three to six treatments at four to six weekly intervals.

As with normal medical guidelines, a healthy diet, minimal caffeine and alcohol and adequate sleep will allow your body the best chance for a good outcome. We also recommend following our pre and post treatment guidelines.

For clients treating hair loss, please be aware that the PRP application is not a “quick fix” and is meant to be used as part of a comprehensive hair rejuvenation program supervised by your GP, specialist or dedicated cosmetic / hair clinic.  Individual patients will progress at different rates depending on their age, general health, baseline condition of your skin and hair and the period since the hair loss first occurred.
